5. Your rights regarding the processing of your personal data
You have the right to request information about the personal data concerning you that we process, as well as further information related to the processing (Art. 15 GDPR). Please note that this right to information may be restricted or excluded in certain cases.
If personal data about you is no longer accurate or is incomplete, you can request that it be corrected and – taking into account the purpose of the processing – completed (Art. 16 GDPR).
If there is a legal reason for doing so, you can request the deletion of your personal data (Art. 17 GDPR). This is particularly the case if the data is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed, or if consent for the data processing has been withdrawn and there is no other legal basis for the processing. However, the right to erasure does not apply, among other things, if data processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority.
If one of the legal requirements is met, you can request that the processing of your personal data be restricted (Art. 18 GDPR). This means that the data will not be erased, but marked in order to restrict its further processing.
If you have consented to the processing or a contract for data processing exists and the data processing is carried out using automated procedures, you may have the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). In this case, you will receive the data that you have provided to the University of Bamberg in a structured, common and electronic format.
On grounds relating to your particular situation, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you (Art. 21 GDPR). If the legal requirements are met, we will subsequently no longer process this personal data.
You have the right to complain to the official data protection officer of the University of Bamberg (Art. 38 para. 4 DSGVO) and to the supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO) about the processing of your personal data. The responsible supervisory authority is the
